A post-doctoral position is available immediately at Tulane University School of Medicine, in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science in the laboratory of Dr. Stacy S Drury, MD, PhD. The position will be focused on examining the role of telomere length dynamics across multiple cohorts and in relation to a variety of psychosocial and environmental stressors and health disparities. The successful candidate will have an advanced degree is fields related to neuroscience, cell and molecular biology, psychology, public health or genetics and have a strong interest, and experience, in molecular biological techniques including qPCR and ELISAs. While this position will incorporate laboratory work directly focused on telomere dynamics, opportunities exist to become involved in translational projects currently in various states across the United States and internationally in Suriname, Sierra Leone, and Romania. Exposure to a range of cross-disciplinary seminars, journal clubs, meetings, and mentorship is expected and opportunities to travel to the locations of on-going projects is anticipated. Close collaborations with neuroscience, environmental health, public health, epidemiology, genetics, and psychiatry is expected as part of this interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have a PhD or MD/PhD with experience and interest in molecular genetic and an interest in stress, health disparities and life course studies.

The candidate can expect to travel to scientific meetings, organize research network activities and assist with data collection, manuscript preparation, social media and other forms of dissemination of scientific advances. Exposure to a range of cross-disciplinary scientists and events is anticipated. Close collaborations with neuroscience, environmental health, public health, epidemiology, genetics, and psychiatry is expected as part of this interdisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have a B.A./B.S. or higher educational degree and previous research experience.
