One of the primary aims of the U24 and U01 grants are to develop recommendations for telomere research around biological sample collection, storage, and processing; laboratory methods; data and statistical analysis, and reporting requirements.
The TRN will conduct multi-laboratory experiments designed to test the impact of various factors on TL measurement, including but not limited to: DNA extraction methods, sample & DNA storage methods, DNA integrity, source tissue, and TL measurement methods. The TRN does not intend to provide “one size fits all” rules, but rather guidelines based on which methods are most appropriate for different settings.
